Synopsis of 2012 team:
The 2012 edition of the Winnfield Sr. High School Tigers has positives.  On the negative side, we must replace 5 players now playing at the next level; Alonzo Moore-QB, Frank Swafford-LB,Thomas Little-OL, Trey Gilbert-RB, and Taylor James-WR.  These 5 won numerous awards the past couple of years, including all-district, all-cenla, and all-state.  We also must replace on offense starters on the offensive line in Jessie Phillips and tight end,Charlie McKinney, who was also all-district. We must replace in the secondary, Dee Williams and DeAndre Harden, both who were all-district, and DeMarcus Smith at DE who was all-district. We will also have to replace our punter, Dee Gilbert.  We will also be smaller than we have been in quite some time.
On the positive side, we return 6 starters and 2 part-time starters on offense, 8 starters on the defense, and 26 returning lettermen.  We should have some speed on both sides of the ball. We lost a lot of our offensive production from a year ago but we feel we have capable people to take their place. We return our kicker, one of the most productive in school history and our kicking game coverage people return. On offense we have to come together and on defense we should be improved from last year.  Barring injury to key personal, we hope to improve as a program in 2011.  Our schedule is challenging with 7 of our opponents making it to the state play-offs last year. Our team’s goal is to get back to the dome and win it even though we know there are some obstacles in our way.
