     Synopsis of 2011 team:

The 2011 edition of the Winnfield Sr. High School Tigers has positives.  On the negative side, we must replace 3 players now in college; Stephen Duncan-QB, Kamonte Wilson-LB, and BJ Hodby-DE.  These 3 won numerous awards the past couple of years, including all-district, all-cenla, and all-state.  We also must replace 3 starters on the offensive and our tight end, Thomas Bates, who was also all-district and all-cenla. We must replace in the secondary, Andrew Thompson, a 2 year starter and Evan Austin at FB who was a jack-of-all-trades. We will also be smaller than we have been in quite some time.

On the positive side, we return 6 starters on offense and 7 on the defense and 26 returning lettermen.  We should have more speed on both sides of the ball than we have had in the past. Except for passing yards, we return all of our rushing, receiving, and return yardage leaders  from a year ago. We also return both our punter, kicker, and return specialist so our kicking game should be improved. On offense we have to come through at QB and on defense we need to tackle better and should with gained experience.  Barring injury to key personal, we hope to improve on our year from 2010.  Our schedule is challenging with 8 of our 10 opponent’s making it to the state play-offs last year. Our team’s goal is to get to the dome and win it even though we know there are some obstacles in our way.
